Job Opportunity at St. Peter’s Parish in Calgary NW

We are in need of a part-time Religious Education Coordinator to work in collaboration with the Pastor and his team to maintain a parish catechetical program for the Sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, Communion and Confirmation. Reporting to the Pastor, the key responsibilities of the successful candidate will include but not be limited to the following:

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinating the sacramental preparation programs according to the Diocesan and Parish policies.
Preparing and organizing liturgical celebrations.
Working with the Parish Secretary to ensure all schools belonging to the Parish are fully engaged in sacramental preparations and celebrations.
Inviting and motivating volunteers from the Parish to perform catechist duties for the sacraments, including facilitating the growth of personal faith and community among them.
Registering families, including entering them into the church registers and preparing certificates for distribution, and organizing family/parent meetings while providing them with opportunities to become familiar with the aims and methods of the curriculum,
Working with the Parish Secretary to ensure Sacramental programs are included in the Church calendar and appropriate supplies and resources are ordered.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Our ideal candidate is a practicing Catholic who would have the following qualifications:
Related post-secondary education or equivalent training and business experience.
Minimum of 5 years of recent catechetical experience – church office environment knowledge and experience would be a definite asset.
Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Word.
Proven track record of working with volunteers.
Superior organization skills, with the ability to set priorities, follow-up and meet deadlines.
Ability to communicate at all levels and with all cultures.
Display integrity, confidentiality, tact and good judgment in resolving problems and answering inquiries.
A high degree of initiative and self-motivation.
