MINISTRIES IN SUPPORT OF PARISH LIFE
Life & Family Resource Centre - offers a variety of programs and resources for those who are experiencing one or more of a wide range of issues that occur in the lives of individuals or families of Southern Alberta.
Diocesan Youth Ministry & Retreat Team - works with the Catholic school districts, university and college chaplains and groups, as well as with other Church agencies and outside agencies in Southern Alberta to better serve our youth. It also offers resources, information and support to parishes wanting to start or maintain programs for their youth.
Social Justice Ministry - promotes and advances the social teachings of the Church which are at the very heart of the Christian message.
The Continuing Education of Priests and care of Retired Priests - provides continuing education for clergy and contributes to housing and a pension fund for retired Diocesan priests.
Diaconate Formation Program- prepares and ordains lay deacons for duties within the parishes of the Diocese.
Mission Council - supports missions in third world countries, e.g. Malawi and Bolivia... as well as First Nation Reserve Churches in the Diocese.
St. Mary’s University College - is a Catholic post-secondary institution which offers liberal arts studies and is the only B.Ed. degree in Canada specifically designed for the formation of Catholic teachers.
CATHOLIC CHARITIES
Catholic Charities - serves the terminally ill, the elderly and homebound, the abused and the impoverished, the refugee and the hungry, the discriminated and the exploited, the addicted and the homeless, the unborn and the unwanted, the lonely and the bereaved.
During 2008, Catholic Charities disbursed $1,160,000 ($671,000 from ABA) in support of 38 agencies and programs which assisted 150,000 needy people throughout Southern Alberta.
